Sitting here watching my best friend and companion laying on the cool concrete of my basement floor, cooling off from the near 30 degree Celsius heat outside.
He looks so blissful and comfortable, that I wonder why I don't join him and lay on the concrete also? It would be so much cooler then sitting here at my computer desk, yet I would be a hazard then to any family member traffic, trying to get into the garage to get to the many preserves, pots of cooling stews in the fridge, hanging sausages being dried and other "bizarre" but tasty European dishes my parents make.
My parents they also might think me a bit strange in the head finding me laying half dead from heat exhaustion, on the cold basement floor, or they would perhaps think my dog and I are quite swell and join us on the cool concrete floor.
Pet and owner laying on the floor without a care in the world, just cooling off.
It makes me ponder that animals can be such tranquil creatures.
Humans could take a lesson from our furry friends, slow down, take in more of your surroundings and become more aware with nature and things that are happening around you.
Don't focus so stress fully on your daily tasks and jobs.
Stop, even bend over and smell a newly cut lawn, you might look a little strange to passerby's but who really cares, take in the fresh and cool scents of the grass and those blooming fragrant flowers around you.
Feel the breeze against your skin and wonder on how it makes you feel.
Gaze at the sky and watch the clouds float by, imagine yourself as a entity full of life and love, as divine from the creation of life itself.
And feel reborn and refreshed.
Touch a branch, or leaf and feel its different texture between your fingers.
Meditate on your new awareness and breathe in deeply from the stomach, slowly in and out like your pet would.
Feel a closeness and a bond with nature and yourself.
And let your worries go, toss them aside, just thinking on the basic needs of an animal, comfort, love, food and water, the basic necessities of life and all that we truly need to keep us happy and well.
If you can meditate like your pet everyday, you will feel less stress, more energy, more vitality and a better appreciation for nature, including more love for your mind and body.
Love yourself, as an animal loves itself, and love those around you that bring you joy and happiness in return.
