There are times when I feel I need to pay a little extra attention to my abdominal area but when I go to the gym I really am not impressed with most of the equipment used to work the abs.
I would rather just get on the mat and do some crunches.
I have found a product that even makes the crunches seem a little easier to do.
This product is called the Bender Ball.
The Bender Ball is a 9-inch inflatable plastic ball that you place behind the lower part of your back, between the knees, or under the hips, it really depends on the type of exercise you are doing.
When ordered, the Bender Ball comes with an instructional DVD, but I never got around to watching it, but according to the site, there are three levels of workouts demonstrated by Leslie Bender.
In the first level, she demonstrates basic crunches with the ball.
On the second level, there are more abdominal exercises demonstrated, and on the third level, Leslie adds additional Pilate's exercises.
As the workout moves along the exercises increase in their intensity.
I have used the ball for such things as crunches and bicycles, which I do often and the Bender Ball worked wonderfully.
It also works great when I use an incline bench.
I can tell you that this ball gives your workout a lot more intensity thus adding to its effectiveness.
My likes: •Really strengthens the core •Good protection for the back •Easy to work with •Can use in a variety of exercises Dislikes: •Didn't like taking it to the gym because it reminded me of a small ball; but overall it was fine The things I read about the instructional DVD sound promising but I cannot tell you how effective it is because I did not use it but the Bender Ball worked perfectly.
I would have to mention though if you just want the use of a small ball to help with your crunches I would think a small rubber ball will work fine as well, it is up to you.
However, I believe that if you really want to get serious about your abs, the instructional video with the DVD combined would be best.
For me using the Bender Ball with my crunches worked best.
This ball definitely does what its advertisement says it will help you do.
If you use this a while with your abs workouts you should see some definition in no time.
