- 1). Purchase a fish trap from your local sporting goods store. A fish trap has a door that opens when pushed, but the door must be lifted from the inside. Fish and birds do not have the ability to lift the trap door from the inside.
- 2). Place the trap in an open area 500 feet away from the barn. Decaying flesh is unsanitary, and the odor will be hard to bear.
- 3). Bait the trap with a large piece of meat. Use 5 pounds of any animal meat.
- 4). Leave the trap in the open area. Wait for the buzzard to approach the trap. It takes time for the buzzard to find the opening to the trap.
- 5). Call your local animal control center, once the buzzard is caught inside the trap. Federal and state regulations differ on the proper removal of the buzzard.
