Secret Tips To A Better Parrot Diet

Having the right parrot diet for your new bird is one of the most important aspects of having a healthy, happy pet.
There has not been enough progress in researching the diets that parrots have in the wild.
Therefore, experts think that there is no perfect diet for pet parrots.
They do, however, think that a diet with only seeds is not healthy for most parrots.
Parrots that are healthy even though they only eat seeds may just be hardier parrots then normal.
When these animals eat seeds only, they miss out on nutrients such as calcium and vitamin A.
Seeds are also very high in fat.
Seeds should only be about 10 percent of the bird's diet, although other seed eaters like budgies can eat around twenty-five percent of seeds in their meal plans.
Ingredients such as vegetables, seeds, fruits, grains and other minerals and nutrients make up pellet foods.
A diet with pellet food is a well balanced and nutritious diet.
Although, your parrot may become bored with the same old food over and over again, so you should make pellet foods only about fifty or sixty percent of their diet.
Your pet should also be offered vegetables and fresh fruits.
When given to the bird, always make sure that these foods are chopped into large chunks so that the bird can chew on it.
Hanging the food on the cage will help stimulation in the parrot.
Variety is the key to a healthy parrot's diet.
This will ensure the bird gets plenty of wellrounded nutrition.
Eggplant, carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans, cucumbers, com, sweet peppers, and cauliflower are all great veggies to feed your new bird.
Fruits such as kiwi, mangoes, melons, Papaya, pomegranates, and pineapple are all good to feed this animal.
Other fruits that are not tropical such as oranges, bananas, apples, cherries, grapes, and peaches are also very healthy for your parrot.
Although you want to offer your bird a variety of different foods, always be sure to remove the pits of certain foods.
They should not eat foods like guacamole, avocado, cocoa, chocolate, mushrooms, caffeine, and alcohol.
Also, any food with salt, grease, sugar, food coloring, preservatives, or anything with additives should be avoided.
Another list of good foods for parrots includes things such as oats, barely, pasta, wheat, and cooked brown rice.
Whole wheat bread as well as unsweetened whole wheat cereal can also be eaten.
There is a lot to consider when feeding your pet parrot.
A good parrot diet will help keep your bird thriving as it would in the wild.
It is the owner's responsibility to make sure the animal gets all the nutrients that it needs from these foods.
