It happens too often.
You tossed and turned all night, but did not get a wink of sleep.
What now? How will you cope today? You feel wrung out, weary to the core, and just drained of energy.
Will you make it through the day today? Surprisingly, yes!! Here are some simple guidelines, built on experience: 1.
Live for the moment.
Funny thing to say, but some hours are affected differently than other hours.
At one point you may feel like dropping, at others there seems to be a burst of energy and/or calm and poise.
What accounts for that? Who knows!? All we do know is that such is the fact.
There is little use in assuming that your day will necessarily turn out one way, when just as often it turns out entirely different - to the better!! So go ahead and live for the moment.
If you feel fine, take that as reality, and act as you would normally act with a full nights sleep.
And if you feel peaked out, kick back and relax, close your eyes and daydream a bit to invigorate and recharge your batteries.
2.
Plan.
Think of your being short on sleep as if you were short on money.
Being short on sleep means being short on energy.
When you are tight on cash you budget carefully, spending on what is essential and cutting off the extras.
You live within your resources and do what is necessary to make it through the difficult period.
So too, when your energy resources are at a low.
Think of what you really must get done - what is absolutely essential, and keep your eye on those activities.
You will need to cut down on what you had planned for today, that's for sure, so make the most out of what you can accomplish by prioritizing and choosing to do those activities that matter most.
3.
Forgive yourself.
You are tired and your mind is real foggy.
You are not saying the smartest things today, and are barely keeping up.
That's par for the course.
You are driving on low batteries today, and are making the best of it.
Don't kill yourself over your low performance.
It is the best you can do today, and you can be very proud of it.
There will be another time when you will shine like the superstar you really are, but today you are a good person for trying hard.
Let yourself go at your diminished pace today - its all you can do.
Keep your head up and forgive yourself for being mediocre; under the circumstances you are gigantic!
