• You can buy streamers and candies for a golden anniversary party from a commercial dealer, such as partycheap.com, or you can make your own crafts.
  
  Buy Hershey chocolates (or any type of chocolate that has a "brick" shape) and golden wrapping paper. Wrap the chocolates in the paper to create miniature golden bricks to set at each guest's place.
  
  You also can make personalized invitations. Find a memorable picture of the couple, paste it onto a sheet of golden paper and add information about the party. For a particularly nice touch, use a commercial service to print your invitations.
  
  If your family is creative, set up a craft table at the party. Have such supplies as Popsicle sticks, glitter, glue, markers and paper available along with some party-specific items, such as pictures of the couple and important historic events from the past 50 years, and small items with "50" on them. Your friends and family can make their own crafts and keep them or give them to the couple.
  
  

Centerpieces

• Decorate your tables with centerpieces that use gold as a prominent theme. Pick flowers or other items that are "golden" in nature, such as daisies or yellow roses. Use either the picture that was on the invitation or another picture of the couple as the focal point of the centerpiece. Add golden streamers and foil around the picture and flowers. Place other items, such as gold stars or little champagne bottles, on the table next to the centerpiece.
  
  If flowers and streamers are not what you're looking for, make a centerpiece out of candles and fruits. Myjeanm.com suggests painting saucers with gold paint and placing a large (at least 9-inch) square candle in the center of the plate. Then surround the candle with fruit that fits the season. Use apples and cherries for fall, pears and pine cones for winter, oranges and lemons for spring, and grapes and peaches for summer.
  
  Another option is to make a memory book for each table and use it as the centerpiece. Include pictures of the couple inside the book and leave room on each page for the guests to write their memories about each picture. Include a few blank pages for the guests to share their thoughts.
