The Cutlass Supreme is a model produced by the now defunct GM brand Oldsmobile from the years 1964 to 1967. The 1979 Cutlass Supreme was released under the 4th generation, which started in 1978 and ended in 1987. It can be considered a large vehicle by today's standard. The size of the car earned the Cutlass Supreme (and other cars of similar proportions) the title of "boat," which referred to the car's size and handling ability. - The '79 Cutlass Supreme had a 442 V-8 as a standard engine. Users were given the option to upgrade the engine to a special Hust/Olds engine. This engine was a 5.7-liter, 350-cubic-inch, Rocket V-8 engine. This option also upgraded the transmission to a turbo Hydramatic three-speed automatic. The standard transmission was a four-speed automatic.
- The Cutlass Supreme had optional T-tops or sunroof. The '79 Cutlass also saw the removal of the rocket logo on the taillights.
- The Cutlass came in both two- and four-door models. Both shared the same platform and wheelbase. The vehicle was produced either in Arlington, Texas, or Pontiac, Michigan, on the A-body platform. The wheelbase was 108 inches, the length was 200 inches, the width was 71.6 inches and the height was 54.9 inches.
