The Skinny
- Acting: A- (Smit-McPhee and Moretz lead a cast full of stellar performances.)
- Direction: B- (Solid with a couple of inventive POV shots, perhaps inspired by Cloverfield, but relies on CGI more than is necessary.)
- Script: B- (Evocative core relationship, but the writing hews too closely to the original film.)
- Gore/Effects: B- (Some nice grisly moments, but there's an overdose of CGI in the vampire scenes.)
- Overall: B- (A well-acted, emotional vampire tale that will resonate mostly with people who haven't seen the original.)
Let Me In is directed by Matt Reeves and is rated R by the MPAA for strong bloody horror violence, language and a brief sexual situation. Release date: October 1, 2010.
