- 1). Know your levels. See your doctor to have your cholesterol levels monitored so you will know what your risk factors are.
- 2). Change your diet. Avoid trans-fats. Eat lean meats and low-fat dairy. Eat whole grains, fruits, veggies and foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids.
- 3). Exercise daily. Work up to 30 to 60 minutes a day of exercise. Take the stairs. Take a walk. Jog around the block. Get moving.
- 4). Lose excess weight by eating healthy and exercising. Do not overeat.
- 5). Cut back or quit your vices. Drink only in moderation. If you smoke, quit.
- 6). Stay in touch with your doctor. Monitor your cholesterol levels. Ask for help when you need it.
