Get The NEWSS, And Get Plenty Of Blueberries In Your Diet

What are you doing these days to give your energy and vitality a boost? Hopefully, you're avoiding sugary "energy drinks," and opting instead for a commitment to the five key daily health habits I call "The NEWSS" - Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sleep, and Supplements.

This summer, the University of Alabama at Birmingham released some research findings about one little thing you can do to reap healthy rewards, even if you're a busy person. Just eat your blueberries!

Blueberries are loaded with antioxidants, for one thing. Those are the dietary elements that fight cancer by reducing (and eliminating) the "free radical" particles that attack your cells. There are free radicals roaming around your bloodstream right now, looking for cells to attack and "morph" into cancer. Lucky for you, there are also antioxidants knocking around in there, looking for free radicals to attach to in order to neutralize the threat. Eating more blueberries can help you ensure you've got plenty of the right kind of microscopic soldiers in there, fighting for your life! The antioxidants in blueberries, along with flavonoids and other vitamins, are the best army you can employ.

You also want to help your immune system, and ensure your body can easily absorb iron for the sake of your strength. Blueberries are packed with Vitamin C, which is crucial to accomplishing those aims.

One note: blueberry juice and other processed products which contain real blueberries might have some nutritional value, but are far less effective than the whole, fresh fruit. When they add sugar and corn syrup to blueberries, they reduce your antioxidant army's weaponry significantly. You want actual blueberries, to maximize the good stuff you can get from them, including cleansing natural fiber.

The blueberry is one of the healthiest things you can eat. If you're a busy person, you still need to find room in your schedule to take care of yourself, and eating blueberries is a pretty convenient way to do that. Whether you own your own business or work a busy management job (as do the majority of my clients), remember that your business and mission depend on your personal energy and vitality. You go down to illness, and your business goes down with you.

If you are out-of-shape and your energy's low, start small with The NEWSS. Cut the garbage-food out of your diet, and get some good stuff in there (like blueberries). Exercise at least three times a week, and quickly get that up to six weekly workouts. Get two liters of water every day, and eight hours of sleep every night. And take at least one good daily supplement to give your body the rest of what it needs to fight back.

Do those things, faithfully, and see if you don't realize a new energy that drives your business to new heights. It's The NEWSS - and not some sugary drink from a can - that can really give you wings.
