  The surrounding area near Dunmore, Pennsylvania is home to many German restaurants. Just a short drive, the Edelweiss, Alpine Restaurant and Hallo Berlin North Tavern all feature authentic German food and utilize German cooking methods. These restaurants offer an assortment of sausages, bratwursts, soups and desserts. Some even feature a bar menu with imported German beers and wines.
  
  

The Edelweiss

• Named after the German flower, the Edelweiss Restaurant is located just 20 miles from Dunmore. The menu and motif of the restaurant call upon the Black Forest region of Germany, home to a woody mountain range where Edelweiss grows. Most of the wood carvings and wood used to make the furniture is from Germany.
  
  The menu is made up of seafood, beef, fowl and specialty sections. Sample authentic German dishes include German Sauerbraten with potato dumplings and red cabbage, and Weiner Schnitzel. More innovative dishes include elk, grilled tuna and ostrich. The restaurant also features a bar with a martini of the week and a full bar menu. Entertainment is available on select nights and the restaurant offers a catering menu for large affairs.

The Alpine Restaurant

• The Alpine in the Poconos is home to a large restaurant filled with German-American cuisine. German meats include Schnitzel, Sauerbraten, chops and steak. According to the restaurant's website, soups are homemade on the premises. There is a large assortment of domestic beers, wines and European desserts. The restaurant encourages patrons to ask about custom cutting and smoking processes for their meats and fish.
  
  The restaurant also houses the Alpine Wurst & Meat House. According to their website, the Alpine offers the largest assortment of fresh sausage, bologna, buffalo, pork salads and other fresh salads daily. The Bockwurst is homemade and different varieties are offered, including Krainerwurs and Liverwurst. Fresh breads, rolls and pastries are also available.

Hallo Berlin North Tavern

• Located just over Pennsylvania's state line in New York, the Hallo Berlin North Tavern German restaurant has an extensive menu. German delicacies like spaetzle and rollmops are on the appetizer list, and German entrees like fish dishes and schnitzels fall under the lunch and dinner sections. The menu also devotes a whole area to different selections of sausages and bratwursts.
  
  The restaurant features an indoor and outdoor year-round beer garden. The menu includes German brews on tap and in the bottle, with imported varieties like Octoberfest, Dopplebock and Erdingerweiss. Various other wines and sodas are also offered.
