The redness is the most visible affect of the acne condition, especially for people with fairer skin, and can often be a source of embarrassment especially during puberty.
There are steps that you can take to reduce the reddish affect of the acne, these include:
- Washing your face with cool or cold water as oppose to warm or hot water.
Warmer temperatures can irritate the skin and cause more redness. - Apply something cool to the affected areas to try and reduce swelling and inflammation.
Examples of good things to use are; a damp washcloth that is put in the freezer for twenty minutes to half an hour or a paper towel filled with crushed ice. - Cut open a fresh aloe vera plant and rub the gel over the affected area.
- Cut up some fresh cucumber into slices and place them on the affected areas for ten to twenty minutes.
- Avoid using any make up with many synthetic chemicals.
Some of these contain oils that can block the pores, increase the bacteria and eventually increase the acne itself. - Try applying eye drops to the affected area.
The same ingredients that can relieve redness in the eyes can also be used to help the skin.
