- 1). Find a spot for your switch. Make sure you have a single-stage, spring loaded switch that rests in the off position. Choose a spot that is easy to reach and won't distract you from driving. Clean the area.
- 2). Attach the switch with screws. Some kits come with double-sided tape to help hold the switch in place while you attach it with screws. The tape will not hold up to repeated use.
- 3). Run wires to the NOS control solenoid. For a professional look, hide wires behind any available panels. Use wire loom or zip ties to help bunch excess wires. In the engine bay, keep wires away from any moving parts, including belts and pulleys. Keep wires away from exhaust tubing. Polarity of the wires does not matter on most systems -- the switch only connects the two terminals and does not change if poles are reversed.
- 4). Verify that the switch is connected correctly. Always do that with the nitrous bottle disconnected. With the key on and the nitrous system armed, check the voltage on the terminals of the switch -- the reading should be approximately 12 volts. Press the button -- the voltage reading should drop to zero or close to zero. If the reading drops to less than that, check for bad connections in the switch. Make sure that the switch does not stick or stay on. Check the voltage reading at the solenoid with the black lead on the engine ground. The readings should be similar to the readings at the switch.
- 5). Test the system with the nitrous bottle installed and the valve opened.
