- The Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, which includes most of the coastal waters of Hawaii, features marine plants and animals endemic to Hawaii. You can watch humpback whales from the observation deck at the sanctuary's administrative center in Kihei.
- Located next to Kealia Beach, where endangered hawksbill turtles come on shore to rest, you can see more than 30 bird species at the Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge.
- Most of Maui's nightlife is centered around the live entertainment featured at the many bars and lounges located in Lahaina and Kihei, such as Kahale's Beach Club or Yorman's by the Sea, which overlooks the Royal Fish Pond.
- You can enjoy a game of volleyball at Kama'ole Beach Parks in South Kihei. Kam'ole is also a favorite swimming beach for locals. Enjoy snorkeling at Kama'ole Beach Park II if the water is calm.
- Kihei Beach is six miles of pristine coastline featuring coves and tide pools. Some areas offer picnic facilities, restrooms and lifeguards.
- Mai Poina 'Oe la'u Beach Park is the best wintertime location for spotting whales. Swimming, kite-surfing and windsurfing are also popular on this beach, which offers full facilities, including showers.
