Great Advice For Growing Greenhouse Orchids

Growing orchids in greenhouses is a great way to care for your plants as they receive the generous attention with optimal conditions.
Often asked, is it easier or harder to use a greenhouse for orchids and is it better? And I always thought orchids were difficult to grow? These are good questions to ask and if you look around you can see many people using greenhouses to grow orchids and other plants successfully.
So its definitely okay to grow orchids inside greenhouses and depending on what style your after, both the light and temperature can be managed accordingly.
In fact they can do really well and with good care they can bloom more often too.
Let's look at how we can start getting into greenhouse orchids and what we need to be aware of.
When looking at greenhouses, they come in varieties of sizes, shapes and prices.
You can see one's using wood as the frame and others being aluminum.
Against natures elements, aluminum seems to be more sturdier and they maintain their look better over time.
It's important to note the temperature requirements of orchids and know the climate region from where they originated from.
This helps replicating the environment and makes things a lot easier for you as the orchids are customized to their conditions.
Be on the alert to keep the temperature accurate so you can have the same specific climate conditions otherwise your orchid will not adjust well in the greenhouse.
It's wise to to use extractor fans to help regulate the temperatures inside and be sure to clean them regularly to avoid the spread of disease from one plant to another.
Now we can focus on providing the proper humidity.
You can construct or install water sprayers inside your greenhouse as this can help during those summer months.
A good place to put them is in the same area as your orchids so they maintain their humidity.
Having direct heat and light can be harsh on the orchids so look into installing roller blinds.
Place them where your orchids receive direct sunlight so they can be protected.
You have the advantage of rolling them up in winter time as well to allow more sunlight in the colder months.
Also know and give your greenhouse orchids the basic needs for their type.
This can be their watering cycle, nutrition and fertilizer selection, care with pesticides and insecticides.
The thing that's great with growing orchids in greenhouses is that you can grow them all year round.
You can control the amount of light, the temperature, watering and humidity, so that you can plant what you want, when you want.
Its a great investment for all orchid and plant lovers alike.
