- 1). Close the bathroom door. This keeps the dog out of the bathroom.
- 2). Close the lid on the toilet seat. This is one of the easiest ways to keep a dog out of the toilet, but you have to remember to keep the lid down.
- 3). Have lots of fresh water available for the dog. In addition to using a bowl, you can use a pet water fountain. These are a bit more complicated than putting water into a bowl, but it might keep a dog interested enough to stop him from drinking toilet water.
- 4). Give the dog cold water to drink. The toilet bowl water is cold and that could be the attraction for some dogs.

- 6). Buy a metal or ceramic water bowl. These materials help to keep the water bowl a little cleaner than plastic water bowls. If bacteria builds up in a plastic bowl, it can change the taste of the water.
