- 1). Distill your tap water by using a water filter; otherwise buy a bottle of mineral water.
- 2). Pour around 4 cups of water---about a quart---into a bowl and add a drop of dishwashing liquid. Mix the solution with a spoon.
- 3). Dip a lint-free cloth into the solution and gently wipe the readable side of the CD from the center outwards in a linear motion.
- 1). Locate the scratches---this can be made easier by holding the readable side of the disc up to a light source.
- 2). Apply a blob of toothpaste to a clean, lint-free cloth. Carefully apply the toothpaste to the scratches and gently rub the paste into the scratches with the cloth. Wipe the cloth over the scratches from the center of the CD outwards in a linear motion.
- 3). Run some warm water and hold the disc underneath it. Dry with a lint-free cloth.
- 1). Open your CD-burning software by clicking on its icon in your computer's task bar. Insert the scratched CD into your computer's CD drive.
- 2). Click on "Burn" or "Import," depending on what program you are using, to copy the CD to your CD burning software.
- 3). Go to "File" and select "New Playlist" from the drop-down list. Create and type a name for your new playlist in the box provided below the playlist file. Click and drag the imported scratched CD into the your playlist file.
- 4). Eject the scratched CD and insert a blank CD-R into your computer's disc drive. Click on "Burn Disc."
