• Dhanushkodi: The place is named after Lord Rama's bow ('dhanush"), Dhanushkodi.
Dhanushkodi is at a distance of 8 km from Rameshwaram.
During the terrible storm in the year 1964 all but the Kothandaramaswamy Temple in Dhanushkodi were completely destroyed.
This temple is the home to polished idols of Lord Rama, Sita (wife), Lakshmana (younger brother), Hanuman and Vibhishana (brother of Ravana).
Adam's Bridge: Adam's Bridge is the chain of reefs, islets and sandbanks it almost connects Sri Lanka with India.
It is alleged that these are the series of stepping stones which were used by Hanuman to follow Ravana, in his attempt to rescue Sita.
