- Create a survival kit for the newly weds. A basket with Advil, earplugs, marriage advice books will do. Add a sleeping bag or mock hotel gift card for arguments.
- Good luck charms make witty wedding gifts. Consider horse shoes, rabbit feet and clover shaped items. These can come in the form of keychains, mugs, jewelry or articles of clothing.
- Consider giving items that read "taken." T-shirts or hoodies are available at specialty stores or you can have them made yourself. Take it a notch higher and have the bride and groom's faces printed on the clothing. Many people are often too embarrassed to wear articles of clothing professing their love seriously, but they make excellent gag gifts to mock the happy couple.
- Tease your recipients with a ball and chain gift to symbolize the commitment they'll be making.
- Consider creating a book where you can have the bride and groom's friends and family members include advice for married life, anecdotes and tips. Pages can either be signed by the author or anonymous.
- Find an artist who will sketch a caricature of the newlyweds in bridal gear. The goofy picture will provide something for your friends to hang in their new home together.
- Give the groom a new apron and the bride a tool belt to stir things up.
- If you'll be giving the happy couple your gift before the wedding, consider giving a diamond appraisal kit, a mock prenuptial agreement and a pregnancy test "just in case."
