If you are writing an autobiography to tell your life story, you should give as much detail as possible. Do some research and study different autobiographical forms. - 2). Outline the accomplishments you want to share with your readers. It might be useful to go through old papers or dig out any awards you've stashed away. Talk with your friends and family to fill in any blanks or to gain a different perspective.
- 3). Write for your audience. Avoid sounding pompous or arrogant. Let your writing flow, and determine what would be interesting for your reader. Cut out facts that aren't relevant, even if they're important to you.
- 4). Revise and edit your work. When writing about yourself, it's wise to hand over your work to another person to edit. He or she can help you smooth over any rough patches in your text and provide an initial review.
