- 1). Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 2). Obtain and set out all of your ingredients and tools.
- 3). Measure out the dry ingredients for the homemade chicken dog treats - 2 cups of whole wheat flour, 1 cup of cornmeal and 3/4 pound of shredded or ground chicken. Combine these ingredients in the large mixing bowl.
- 4). Mix all of the dry ingredients using your hands.
- 5). Combine the wet ingredients in a small mixing bowl - 3/4 cups of milk, 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil and two eggs.
- 6). Crumble two cubes of chicken or beef boullion into the small mixing bowl containing the wet ingredients. Wyler's makes a salt-free boullion that's great for owners trying to limit their pet's salt intake.
- 7). Mix all of the wet ingredients and bullion using a whisk or fork. Mix until the bullion has dissolved completely.
- 8). Pour the wet ingredients in the small mixing bowl into the large mixing bowl with all of the dry ingredients for the homemade chicken dog treats.
- 9). Use a mixer to combine the wet and dry ingredients into a dough.
- 10
Remove about one-third of the dough at a time, place the dough on a floured surface. Add 1/2 cup of flour at a time and knead until the dough is of a medium consistency. - 11
Use a rolling pin to flatten out the dough to 3/4 or 1/8 inch thickness, depending on your preference. Keep in mind that thinner dog treats will bake faster. - 12
Use your favorite cookie cutter or a rolling pizza cutter to divide the dough into individual dog treats. - 13
Place the homemade pet treats on a cookie sheet, spaced 1/2 inch apart. - 14
Place the cookie sheet inside the preheated oven and bake for 18 to 23 minutes or until the chicken dog treats are golden brown. - 15
Allow the homemade chicken dog treats to cool and serve!
