- 1). Call the service provider that you purchased the HTC P3600 from and ask for the code to unlock your phone so you can use it on a different network. The technical term for the code is the "SIM Subsidy Unlock." The representative needs the IMEI code located on the product sticker under the battery. Once the representative has the necessary information, he files an unlock request. It takes a few days to get the code. Usually, the company will email you the code or you have to call a second time to get the code.
- 2). Remove the battery from the device and replace the SIM card with a foreign SIM card. Foreign means any SIM other than the original carriers SIM card. For example, if your device is from AT&T, a T-Mobile SIM card would serve as a foreign SIM card.
- 3). Place the battery back into the phone and power it on. Wait for the phone to boot up until the unlock dialogue box pops up. Enter the unlock code into the dialogue box to unlock the device.
