- 1). Water your miniature rose bush 1 inch a week. Water more frequently if you have just planted it. Keep it constantly moist until new red leaves appear, then reduce the amount of water.
- 2). Expose your rose bush to plenty of sunlight. Your plant needs at least six hours of sun each day. If your garden doesn't have that much to offer in one spot, grow your miniature rose bush in a container. Move the container where the sun is or take it indoors and give it supplemental heat and light with a grow lamp.
- 3). Feed your miniature roses after every blooming to give it the rich soil it needs. Mix equal amounts of peat moss, potting soil and mulch, or apply a commercial natural fertilizer to keep your bush productive. Stop feeding a miniature rose that's planted in the ground about six weeks before you expect the first frost.
- 4). Remove dead blossoms and branches. Don't drop them on the ground -- put them in the trash to avoid attracting pests that could spread disease to your rose bush.
- 5). Treat brown spots and mildew that appear on the leaves with a fungicide. Pick off pests like aphids, using your fingers. Apply pesticide if the infestation is severe. Look for natural or low-toxicity options.
- 6). Cover the base of your miniature rose bush with organic matter in the winter. Protect the roots from the cold with a layer of bark, straw or dead leaves.
