How to Check Illinois Unemployment Claims Online

    • 1). Go to the Illinois Department of Employment Security's website. This site offers you many resources related to unemployment compensation, employment services and taxes.

    • 2). Locate the drop-down menu under the "How Do I?" section featured prominently near the top of the home page. You have many options to choose from under this drop-down to take you to where you want to go. You will need a login and password to continue. If you have not filed claims online, you'll need to obtain this before proceeding.

    • 3). Select "See My Benefit Payment History" and click "Go" from the drop-down menu. You must be using the Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher and Windows to access the system. If you do not, you will see a message with the system requirements and that the system is unsupported by browsers other than Internet Explorer.

    • 4). Click "View My Detailed Payment History" on the "Unemployment Insurance Service for Individuals" page. This action brings you to a page where you will need to enter your Username and Password. Once you enter this information, click "Continue" to check your Illinois unemployment claims.

    • 5). Call the Illinois Department of Employment Security Customer Service hotline at 800-244-5631 if you have trouble accessing the online IDES system, prefer to check the status of your claims by phone or if you believe the information displayed is incorrect.
