- 1). Trim the grass away from the home skirting.
- 2). Wash the vinyl skirting with a degreasing cleanser, using a brush. Rinse the skirting, using a pressure washer. Prevent damage by equipping the washer with a wide-angle spray tip. Let the skirting dry for two hours.
- 3). Abrade the vinyl skirting to roughen the surface so the primer will stick. Sand the skirting until it feels rough.
- 4). Cover the portion of the siding directly adjacent to the skirting, using painter's tape; cover the ground with drop cloths.
- 5). Apply latex primer to the abraded vinyl skirting, using a roller. Roll vertically, moving left to right. Touch-up the skirting, using a polyester brush. Let the skirting dry for two hours.
- 6). Wash each tool twice, using clean water from a hose.
- 7). Paint the vinyl skirting as you primed it. Don't use a plain latex paint; instead, opt for a durable acrylic latex paint that won't fade or crack in exterior environments.
