Firstly, you are going to play a little game...
where you ask the 6 most critical questions: who, what, where, when, why and how...
and you will ask this daily to your spouse.
You can ask "where were you", "what were you doing all this time", "who did you talk to today", "how come you are so late", "why do I feel like you are not telling me the truth"...
etc.
If this annoys your spouse to the following extents, then he/she is definitely lying to you, and is probably hiding adultery from you...
Unable to make eye contact- hey, why would they be able to look you in the eye, when they are scared of being caught! That is the last thing they want to do, because that intimidates them to lose their composure, so they look elsewhere.
Changing the subject altogether- He/she will just entirely get off of that subject, in any way, shape or form to get out of trouble with you.
They may use a loving approach towards you, by saying oh lets do this or that together...
or they may simply just turn on the TV and ignore you.
Whatever the case, changing the subject is an easy way to avoid telling the truth.
Blame game- Well, suddenly everything is turned on you.
You are at fault, you caused everything...
you...
you..
..
you- a liar will do anything to get out of it; even if that means attacking you directly and blaming you now.
The guilt strings- He/she will pull your guilt strings and make you feel guilty just by simply saying things like "how could you say that, don't you love me?"...
"I love you, and you know I would never hurt you!"...
basically they will say things that make you think that you are the one who is not trusting enough, and that your doubts are ruining everything.
This is how they get out of things so easily without you noticing, because afterward you will feel bad and let them off the hook because you are questioning yourself now, instead of your spouse.
