- 1). Rake the lawn clear of rocks and organic debris using a flexible, metal rake.
- 2). Reseed the lawn with centipede grass by evenly distributing the seeds throughout the lawn with a spreader. Use 2 pounds of grass seed per 1,000 square feet of lawn area.
- 3). Sprinkle 1/12-inch layer of lawn lime over the seeds using a spreader. Lime increases the soil's pH balance.
- 4). Add 1/2-inch layer of clean compost or peat moss fertilizer over the lime and seeds using a spreader. Fertilizer provides moisture retention, temperature stability and minerals and nutrients to the top soil.
- 5). Water the seedlings once daily for two weeks or until new growth is visible through the fertilizer.
- 6). Trim back branches and bushes to increase sunlight on the centipede lawn using outdoor trimmers.
