How Traditional Indian Paintings Different From Today

India has had one of the most intriguing histories in the world. Its past is beaded with colourful stories of Maharajahs and vivid tales of mythology that somehow still manages to live and breathe within the modern by-lanes of Indian metropolitan's.

Rich culture and a heritage past allows India to be one of the most common sources of inspirations for artists around the globe. Many westerners and people from a different soil have tried to soak in the bare existence of India and interpret it in a myriad ways with a lexicon of impressionism's. However, amid the unending yet impressive works from the artists of the outside world, the charm and peculiar feel that Indian paintings flaunt is something that proves to be a difficult speck of art to capture and replicate.

Indian paintings have a strong personality that defines the genre and stand as an emblem for the identity of their culture. Paintings with vibrant colors and overtly expressive nature of artists to portray mythological deities make them an art of a kind. Particularly, if you are familiar with the style of those traditional Indian paintings, you will get to see the intricacies of art up-close and personal.

The attention to detail and genuine efforts to replicate the thought process and their affection to religion and deities in particular, make you feel in awe of the artists' talent and capabilities. These peculiar features have stood the waves of time and also contribute majorly to the reason why the popular Indian art paintings are often attributed as €timeless'.

It will be wrong to imply that popular Indian art paintings that are the brainchild of the emerging and surprisingly young Indian artists are any lesser. But we also cannot deny that the styles and traditions of Indian art have evolved significantly over time. Many of the modern Indian artists have earned their share of fame through their own experimental approaches and/or brilliance in abstract art.

Abstract paintings are one of those art forms that really came out in the last few decades. The limitless possibilities to experiment and the myriad of styles that can be incorporated to paint an abstract have lifted the scene totally.

Not many Indian artists are keen to go back to the painting styles that prevailed in the past centuries, so as to speak. Surprisingly, somehow there exists a rare breed of Indian artists who are more than ready to try their hand on traditional Indian style and who have contributed some remarkable pieces for the genre.
