Lustmord is the dark ambient solo project of Brian Williams, a Welsh electronic musician and artist also known for his work in the industrial noise act SPK.
Lustmord was founded in 1980 when Williams combined together field recordings he made in caves, crypts and slaughterhouses with recordings of ethnic instruments and melodies to create some of the earliest dark ambient music ever made.
Among the various releases under the Lustmord moniker, the album "Heresy," released in 1990, is considered one of the dark ambient genre's most signature works.
Brian Williams has also made contributions to dozens of film soundtracks as both a sound designer and composer, perhaps the most well-known of such having been for the major Hollywood productions The Crow and Underworld.
In addition to his work in the film industry, Williams has also worked on music composition and sound design for computer and video games as well.
Titles he worked for include Planescape: Torment (though his work was not included in its final release) and Far Cry Instincts.
Lustmord has done remix work for the American metal band Tool and is also credited on the track "10,000 Days" from Tool's 2006 album of the same name.
He has collaborated further other projects with Tool's lead singer Maynard James Kennan.
Lustmord gave his first live performance more than 25 years after the project began on June 6, 2006 as part of a mass by the Church of Satan.
A second live show is planned for October 2010 at the Unsound Festival in Krakow.
