5 Reasons to Use a Motorcycle Lift

Some people spend time working on motorcycles every day. Perhaps they work on their own personal motorcycle on a regular basis or even run a repair shop. Maybe they work on their friend's bike or maybe they are just enthusiasts. If this is the case, they know what it's like to spend hours in a bent over position. For those that consider themselves a professional or an enthusiast, they may want to consider motorcycle lifts. These items are neither expensive not difficult to operate. Once utilized in any shop, they become an integral part of any properly executed repair.

Why would a person want this? It's simple. In fact, there are five key reasons. The first is the most obvious; comfort. Any mechanic that works long hours will find that bending over creates stress and strain on the back. When stress builds, workmanship often declines.

The second reason has to do with safety. The motorcycle is more stable and easier to repair using proper methods when firmly attached to a lift.

The third reason involves quality of work. If the mechanic is able to see the whole bike at eye level, more care can be taken to use the amount of effort and to install and replace components correctly because everything is easier to see.

The fourth reason has to do with being thorough. If one needs to oil a chain, having the chain closer and more visible makes the service more complete. All aspects of the repair can be tended to and that warning sign of a squeaking noise can be addressed immediately and thoroughly.

Finally, the fifth reason is preventive. When a mechanic puts the bike on the lift where he can see it, any other possible problems can be detected much easier. When in a bent-over position, the lack of comfort and visibility may allow essential service and replacement of worn parts or those needing attention to be skipped entirely. This is not only inconvenient for the rider, but potentially dangerous. Also, when vital repairs are not done, it can reflect poorly on the mechanic's reputation.

The decision to use a motorcycle lift is one that not only indicates a level of professionalism, but shows concern for the safety and satisfaction of the rider. No shop is complete without the proper tools, as no mechanic is qualified without knowledge, skills and experience. Whether hobbyist or expert, craftsman or amateur; there are standards that must be met. These standards bring more safety and fun to the motorcycle riding experience.
