Cirque du Soleil Ovo was my first time attending a Cirque shows. What struck me when I entered the big top was how cozy it was - it was much more intimate than I expected and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Even before the show started, the experience had already begun. There were cast members wandering through the aisles, giving the audience an up close and personal glimpse at the breathtaking detail of the costumes and makeup.
One of the neatest things about the show was the upbeat, live music. We were told this was the first Cirque show to be inspired by the music of Brazil, and you could definitely feel the energy.
The show was made up of a number of awe-inspiring acts, woven together as the story that included insect love, some creepy crawlies and a clownish ringleader that served as the instigator and later friend to the show's main man (er, bug). There was a mix of circus-esque acts and interludes of theatrical performance. The actors did an amazing job of getting the story across using no words at all (or rather, a clicking, chirping insect language), but I have to say that I most enjoyed the finely tuned skills of the circus performers. From trapeze artists to tightrope walkers to contortionists, the show kept the audience gasping in amazement.
The show was appropriate for all ages, and kids will love seeing bugs come to life in a friendly, fun way. Some children were even dressed up, several donning wings of their own, for the occasion. That being said, it's by no means a kids-only show - adults will marvel at the talented performers as well.

- The show takes place under the big tent you've probably seen at Atlantic Station.
- Atlantic Station offers dedicated Cirque parking for $10 - it may be cheaper to use general Atlantic Station parking, but you'll have to walk farther.
- Arrive at least 20 minutes before showtime to allow time to walk from your car and get settled in your seats.
- Snacks and beverages (including wine) are available for purchase in the tent.
- There is no photography allowed.
- There will be a half-hour intermission.
