- The latest 5.0 produces 412 horsepower (at 6500 rpm) and 390 pound-feet of torque (at 4250 rpm) on premium fuel (91 octane or more). That output drops slightly to 402 horsepower and 377 pound-feet of torque with regular unleaded gasoline (87 octane). Using premium fuel, the engine's specific output is 83 horsepower per liter.
- Each of the eight cylinders of the 5.0 has four valves (two intake, two exhaust), with a variable timing system Ford calls "Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing" (Ti-VCT). The engine's compression ratio is 11.0:1. Bore and stroke are 92.2 by 92.7 millimeters.
- The 5.0 liter should propel the Mustang GT from a standstill to 60 mph in five seconds or less when paired with either the manual or optional automatic transmission. Official EPA fuel economy figures for the GT are 17 city/26 highway (manual) and 18 city/25 highway (automatic).
