- 1). Look at the next available check in your checkbook. Locate the numbers printed at the bottom of the check.
- 2). Count off the first nine digits to obtain the routing number.
- 3). Look right past the printed characters at the end of the routing number. Note the digits that occur until the next set of printed characters. That is your account number. For instance, if the following is at the bottom of your check:

the routing number is 123456789 and the account number is 98765.
