In World of Warcraft, mages are built to AOE.
They are definitely the most powerful class are killing multiple mobs using area of effect (AOE) spells.
I would like to teach you some basic tips for grinding and leveling with your mage.
The fact that you can kill 5, 10, or even 20 to 30 mobs at a time is something that you should take advantage of with your mage class.
If you are in the process of leveling a mage or want to level a mage, this article may be helpful to you.
I myself have a mage that I have played from Naxx (preBC) up until Malygos in WoW Wrath of the Lich King.
This is a simple frost mage rotation: Get fully rested and fully buffed (I recommend using molten armor).
The best way to round up mobs is to mount up.
Since you are cloth wearer, it is not ideal to run around on foot while you have a bunch of mobs beating on you.
You won't be able to round up mobs quickly and you will most likely die.
With that being said, mount up! You will be using your mount a lot to AOE grind, so I highly suggest you set it as a key binding or place it on your hot bar.
If your HP is too low, you can use a mana shield or ice barrier before you mount up.
To get the hang of things and to get a feel for the mobs you're grinding, I would start with 5 to 6 mobs at a time.
Once you have aggro on the mobs go ahead and ice block (which will automatically dismount you) and wait till the mobs all get within melee range of you.
Once you become unfrozen from the ice block, strafe and Frost nova all of the mobs in place.
Blink if you need to if you get into trouble.
Before you start to AOE with blizzard, I highly suggest you pop a trinket.
This will greatly increase your damage output and will help you kill the mobs a lot faster.
If for some reason a mob gets away from you and is attacking you while you are AOE, use cold snap, run back to the mobs, Frost nova them all into place again, and resume blizzard.
You can also use your water elemental and freeze them if you need to.
To finish the mobs off use Cone of cold and arcane explosion.
The mobs should have low enough health to the point where you can kill them with one of cold.
Try to master these techniques has a mage, and you will find yourself being able to AOE up to 30 mobs at a time.
I hope you enjoyed these simple mage tips.
