- 1). Write a short list of current or classic romantic songs. Discuss the possibilities of basing your romantic theme on a song with your planning committee, if applicable. If a song inspires ideas for decor and food, it is an appropriate choice.
- 2). Invite all members of the planning committee to offer their favorite romantic movie to be considered as a dance theme. For instance, the film "Casablanca" conjures images of spicy Moroccan colors, exotic food and old-fashioned romance, while "Twilight" inspires a darker, younger and more mysterious style of romance.
- 3). Consult the calendar when choosing an amorous theme. A dance scheduled in the spring could have the theme of "new love" or "young love," while a theme for a dance scheduled in autumn could be "fall in love under the falling leaves." You can also plan a romantic theme based on a holiday, such as "evergreen love" for a Christmas dance.
