Performance Monitor, an independent research firm, has conducted research in two related fields - Application Development and Maintenance (ADM) and Application Outsourcing (AO).
In total, 864 clients with Application Development and Maintenance projects and 709 clients with Application Outsourcing engagements participated in this research.
Study participants provided assessments of their service provider's effectiveness across the delivery life cycle.
As part of the research process, clients of many of the leading service providers were interviewed.
The following providers were included in both studies: Accenture, EDS, Hewlett Packard, IBM, and Infosys.
One common theme in both of these research efforts was the excellent delivery performance of Hewlett Packard.
Hewett Packard clients provided strong performance assessments across the delivery lifecycle with HP receiving the highest Overall Performance Score in both studies.
The Overall PerformanceScore is a measure of overall delivery effectiveness.
One of the keys to successful ADM and AO delivery is the expertise of the supplier's personnel.
While this is somewhat intuitive, the research examines the impact of fourteen different problems on client goal attainment.
For both ADM and AO engagements the number one goal attainment killer is when a supplier's personnel are not up to expected levels of expertise.
Hewlett Packard has the industry-best performance for avoiding problems related to the expertise of their personnel in both studies.
Based on their strong track record of delivery effectiveness with other clients, decision makers can feel comfortable shortlisting Hewlett Packard for both ADM and AO engagements.
