- 1). Download and install QuickTime. The application can be obtained directly from the Apple website. (See Resource 1.)
- 2). Upgrade to QuickTime Pro. Go to "Help" on the program menu and select "Buy QuickTime Pro..." The Apple online store product page will launch in your browser. Follow the on-screen instructions to purchase the license.
- 3). Open your MOV file in QuickTime. Go to "File," and select "Open File..." Search for the MOV file in the file selection window. Select the item and click on the "Open" button.
- 4). Go to "File" and select "Export." A "Save exported file as:" window will appear. Open the "Save in:" pull-down menu and target the saving destination of the adjusted MOV file. Rename the exported file accordingly in the "File Name" field. Open the "Export" pull-down menu and select the "Movie to QuickTime Movie" option. Click the "Options..." button and the "Movie Settings" window will appear.
- 5). Click the "Filter..." button in the "Video" section. A "Choose Video Filter..." window will appear. Select the "Brightness and Contrast" option under "Adjustments." A brightness adjustment bar will appear.
- 6). Slide the playhead on the brightness adjustment bar to modify the MOV file's lighting. Raise it above "0" to brighten the video and lower it below "0" to darken the video. Once the desired changes have been made, click the "OK" button.
- 7). Return to the "Save exported file as:" window and click the "Save" button. An "Export Progress" window will appear. When its status bar reaches 100 percent, the adjusted MOV file will be accessible from its targeted saving location.
