Staying healthy? Health is the term used to refer to a state of physical well being but one can only be called healthy if one is not just physically but mentally fit too.
A healthy body is a reflection of a healthy mind and the combination of the two is possible with good eating and sleeping habits in an individual.
This can enable an individual to stay away from illness and as we all know prevention is always better than cure.
Only a healthy body can sustain the attacks of any disease.
Now we come down to discussing the most effective steps which can enable an individual to stay healthy.
The ten most effective steps, if followed regularly will lead to a healthy new you: 1.
Physical Activity: Doing some amount of exercise on a regular basis will promote a physical and mental well being.
Physical activity such as walking or jogging helps maintain abalanced weight and makes an individual stay away from diseases like heart attack, diabetes, mental problems-namely stress and depression.
It also helps get rid of bone related problems.
But, a word of caution- before starting any kind of exercise or yoga therapy one must consult the doctor.

Healthy Diet: A balanced diet which contains all the nutrients required for the body are a must to stay healthy.
A low fat diet and a balanced complete meal can help one lead a long and illness free life.
This should be a balance of green vegetables, fruits, pulses, whole grains, breads, cereals and milk.
If one is a non vegetarian then one can also include eggs, low fat meats and fish in the diet.

Weight control: One of the first and foremost steps to staying healthy and is directly linked to excising.
Exercise prevents weight from increasing beyond desirable limits.
4.
Avoid Alcohol or Cigarettes: One should avoid alcohol as it affects the nervous system and the liver.
It also leads to depression.
Cigarettes on the other hand are the major causes of cancer and other lung diseases and especially affect children who become passive smokers.
5.
HIV / AIDS: The biggest curse of today's date which gets in its grip complete families.
To save oneself from this dread prevention is the only cure.
Blood transfusion should be carried out only after the blood is tested for the virus, no unprotected sex (use latex condoms) and never share syringes.
6.
Medicines: If one is under any prescribed medicine due to age or illness one should take it regularly.
This also includes vaccinations for prevention of diseases.

Health tests: One should go for regular health check ups depending on the age and as prescribed by the doctor.
This includes dental check up, physical and other wellness tests.
8.
Prevent injuries: Injuries can be prevented by being cautious in day to day life.
Whether it is wearing seat belt in a car or using the side rail while climbing down the stairs prevention can go a long way.
9.
Drinking Water: It is the simplest way to stay healthy.
Water cleans the body of its toxins, improve the skin quality, help in better bowel movements and leads to a good health.
8-10 glasses of water a day are a must.
10.
Stay Happy: Happiness is a state of mind and can go a long way in keeping one healthy.
So, stay happy and be healthy.
