Tips About a Wedding Rehearsal Dinner

When you are planning a big wedding there is a wedding rehearsal dinner to follow the actual rehearsal.
There are a lot of different rules about the wedding rehearsal dinner and for the most part you need to do whatever is acceptable in your family and faith.
Here are a few tips to make the wedding rehearsal dinner go smoothly.
Plan this dinner to be an informal occasion.
Many people actually have this dinner at the church where the ceremony is to be held.
The food can be catered or in some cases it can be a covered dish affair.
The grooms family is usually responsible for the cost of this dinner as the bride's family is responsible for the rest of the wedding cost.
Rehearsals should be relaxed and easy to attend.
Leave any animosity you feel about the other side of the family away from this affair.
These are a time for the bride and groom to bring their two families together.
Do not spoil this night with childish resentments and arguments.
All of the wedding party should be invited to the dinner.
No exceptions can be made here.
If the rehearsal dinner is to be held at a restaurant then you should RSVP the people holding the dinner as soon as you know whether or not you will be attending.
Do not wait until the last moment to confirm your invitation.
These dinners are a time for reflection.
The parents of the couple are there to tell stories of their young ones and to listen to stories of their soon to be family member.
Keep drinking at these dinners to a minimum.
Nothing is worse than a bunch of people having too much to drink and saying inappropriate things at a rehearsal dinner, therefore, a glass of wine with dinner is acceptable, but otherwise, keep the hooch locked up.
The minister should be invited to the rehearsal dinner.
They may decline the invitation depending on their closeness to the family.
Some dinners are set up so that all of the immediate family members of each person in the wedding party are also welcome.
Make certain you know and understand whether or not you can bring guests to the rehearsal dinner with you.
Do not assume your spouse was included if the invitation does not say they were.
When the rehearsal dinner is over it is customary for the father of the bride to insist on getting the tip.
The mother of the bride and the mother of the groom are sat at the table directly across from one another.
Their husbands are seated on one side of them and their child that is getting married is sat on their other side.
The bridesmaids and groomsmen are positioned across from each other if the table is long and if you are using several small tables the groomsmen and the bridesmaids are evenly mixed at tables.
Remember to have fun and enjoy meeting the people that are about to become a part of your life.
