- The Dodge Motor Co. was founded in 1914 by the Dodge Brothers. The brothers were stockholders and engine builders for the Ford Motor Co. before producing their first car in November of that year. In July 1928, the company was sold to Chrysler and continued to grow. In 1987 to 1994, Chrysler introduced the Shadow, a front-drive compact hatchback with four cylinders.
- The Shadow two-door and four-door hatchback ES models come equipped with a standard 100-horsepower, 2.5-liter I-4 engine. Optional is the 141-horsepower, 3-liter V-6 engine. The base model has 93 horsepower with a 2.2-liter I-4 engine. Fuel capacity is 14 gallons, with an engine displacement of 153 cubic inches on the ES models, and 135 cubic inches on the base models.

Also included is the HD alternator and the HD battery. Options are the 3-liter engine, with a V-6 cylinder configuration and 12 valves. Other options include the sequential multi-point fuel injection and the transmission lock-up torque converter, with an engine torque of 171 foot-pounds. The base models have an engine torque of 122 foot-pounds with an option of 135 foot-pounds.
