- 1). Locate a pattern for a plush cat. A life-size Eevee stands 12 inches tall, so you will need to locate a pattern that makes a 12 inch tall plush cat, or re-size the pattern. If you are unable to find an appropriate cat pattern, a dog or fox pattern may also work, depending on the shape of the animal's head.
- 2). Buy the amount of light brown fake fur as suggested by the pattern, and about the same amount of white fake fur. The pattern you selected should give you guidance on the amount of fabric needed for the body of the original animal.
Select suede cloth, felt, or another material that will not fray for Eevee's eyes and the inside of Eevee's ears. You will need a rectangle about 8 inches by 6 inches, or a 1/8 inch strip of black fabric. You will need only a scrap of white suede cloth or felt, which will be used for the sparkle in Eevee's eyes.
Get black embroidery floss to sew Eevee's mouth and nose, and select spools of light brown, black and white thread for sewing together Eevee's body.
Buy a bag of polyester fiberfill for stuffing your plush Eevee. Also look for a soft but semi-rigid foam or cotton padding, such as is used to make chair pads, to sew into your Eevee's ears. You will need two pieces at least 8 inches long by 4 inches wide. - 3). Use your pattern to cut out pieces for the plush animal's head, body, and legs from the light brown fake fur. Set aside the pattern pieces for the ears and tail.
- 4). Locate the pattern pieces for the plush animal's ears. Using the ear pieces as a guide, draw a long oval shape to be Eevee's ear. The base of Eevee's ear must be the same width as the original ear in order to fit properly onto the head.
Cut two pieces from your light brown fake fur for the back of each ear, then cut two slightly smaller pieces for the front of each ear. Cut two pieces of black suede cloth or felt for Eevee's inner ears, then trim about 1 inch around all sides except the base of the ear. Cut two pieces of semi-rigid foam or cotton padding the same size as the back of the ear.
Center each inner ear piece on the furry side of each front ear piece. Sew each inner ear piece into place using black thread.
Baste one piece of semi-rigid batting to the wrong side of each back of the ear piece. Lay one front of the ear piece on top of each back of the ear piece, right (furry) sides together. Sew each pair of pieces together, matching edges. - 5). Locate the pattern pieces for the plush animal's tail. Using the tail pieces as a guide, draw a long oval shape to be Eevee's tail. Extend the tip into a point. The base of Eevee's tail must be the same width as the original piece in order to properly fit into the body. Cut out the tail pieces.
- 6). Sew the plush animal together using the original instructions, but substituting your new ear and tail pieces for the original pieces.
When directed by the pattern, craft Eevee's face. Cut ovals of black suede cloth or felt for Eevee's eyes, and cut circles of white seude cloth or felt for the twinkle in Eevee's eyes. The white circles should fit within the black ovals. Sew one white circle to each black oval, then sew the black ovals to the face. Use chalk or a fabric marker to draw Eevee's mouth, then embroider the mouth using your chalk or marker line as a guide.
Stop sewing when you have one complete head and one complete body, but before attaching the head to the body. Stuff the body and head with polyester fiberfill, if you haven't already done so as instructed by your pattern. Both parts must be stuffed until firm. - 7). Prepare and attach Eevee's neck ruff. Measure the circumference of the plush animals' neck hole. Trace a circle the same circumference as the neck hole and draw a large circle around it. The large circle should be about 13 inches in diameter. The finished piece will resemble a doughnut shape. This piece will be Eevee's neck ruff.
Cut two pieces the same size from white fake fur. You may cut one from short-pile white fake fur, and one for long-pile short fake fur. Trim each piece into the shape of a four petal flower. Pile the pieces with right sides (furry sides) together and sew around the outer edge with white thread. Turn the pieces right-side out. You may wish to stuff the piece with a small amount of polyester batting, or you may choose to leave the piece empty.
Lay the ruff piece around the neck hole of the plush animal's body. Center one point on the animal's chest. Sew around the neck hole to attach the ruff piece to the body piece. - 8). Sew the head to the body as instructed by the pattern. Tie off your thread securely.
