Famous Drummer - Tim Alexander

Tim Alexander is an American drummer, well-known for being a member of the hugely influential funk-metal band, Primus.
Alexander recorded in Primus most admired and commercially successful albums.
Born on April 10, 1965 in Cherry Point, North Carolina, Alexander is second to the last of Primus long list of drummers.
Prior to Primus, he was part of the rhythm band Major Lingo, which was noteworthy for Tony Brunos instrument, a lap steel guitar.
Alexander joined Primus in 1989, when drummer Jay Lane left to pursue other projects.
Alexander got the job after displaying his mix of exceptional drumming technique to frontman and bassist Les Claypool.
The two earlier met at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
He recorded with Primus in the albums Suck on This, Frizzle Fry, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, Miscellaneous Debris, Pork Soda, and Tales from the Punchbowl.
It was on the live album Suck on This that Alexander played his first and last recorded solo, which brought about fellow drummer Steve Smiths admiration for him.
In 1996, after the tour for Punchbowl, Alexander left the band due to the band members different visions of the future, but rejoined the band in 2003, just in time for the EP Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People.
The band toured throughout 2003 and 2004.
Apart from his work with Primus, Alexander also worked with bass player Michael Manring and former Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick to form Attention Deficit in 1998.
Although the instrumental trio was experimental, it paved way for Alexander to further challenge his drumming skills.
Alexander also worked with Linda Cushma, as well as with the Las Vegas-based rock band Uberschall.
Laundry, an Indie rock band, was formed while he was on a break after the tour for the album Pork Soda.
Interestingly, Alexander also joined the theatrical group Blue Man Group.
In addition, he was one of the members of the first incarnation of the alternative rock supergroup, A Perfect Circle, along with guitarist Billy Howerdel, frontman Maynard James Keenan, bassist Paz Lenchantin, and guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen.
With this band, he recorded and released Mer de Noms in 2000.
He also became a part of Puscifer, a side project of Keenan from the bands Tool and A Perfect Circle.
In 2006, Alexander worked and finished recording for his side project, Fata Morgana, which featured performances by Paz Lenchantin, Luis Carlos Maldonado, Tony Levin of Peter Gabriel, Zwan Chris Peeler, Todd Minnix, and Sam Lersch of Fred Green.
Alexanders musical influences include the Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, Neil Peart, African Juju music, and Stewart Copeland of The Police.
Alexander most recently teamed up with guitarist and vocalist Luis Carlos Maldonado for a project called Into The Presence.
The duo brought in bass player Paz Lenchantin and cellist Ana Lenchantin to work in this self-titled album, which is yet to be released.
He currently uses Starclassic Drums, Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth signature sticks and Remo drumheads.
