- 1). Center a measuring tape over your belly button. Pass the left and right end of the measuring tape behind your back and up around the opposite shoulder. Your back will have an "X" formed from the tape. Pull each end of the measuring tape down from your shoulders and cross the measuring tape on the front of your chest between your breasts. Pass the ends around your waist and grasp the measuring tape at the point where the two ends intersect at the base of your spine. Add 25 inches to this measurement. This will be the length of your sling.
- 2). Measure, mark and cut a piece of fabric that is 11 inches wide and as long as your calculated sling length in Step 1.
- 3). Lay the fabric in front of you so that the pattern faces down.
- 4). Fold 1/2 inch of material over on all four sides of the sling. Pin the folded edges into place with sewing pins along the entire border of the material.
- 5). Sew down the pinned edges of the material, using the sewing machine. Remove the pins after you are done sewing.
