- 1). Remove the topsoil and dirt from the area of the proposed floor. Truss up the earth a bit with your shovel and water the grounds before leveling it. Fill all holes with pieces of rocks or some earth.
- 2). Sieve a sizable quantity of earth and ashes with a wire strainer. Make a thick paste of two parts earth and one part ashes in a pan by adding only enough water to bind them.
- 3). Apply a ½-inch coat of the thick paste to the prepared grounds. Even out the surface of the coat with a trowel. Allow two days to dry.
- 4). Make a thick paste of two parts ashes and one part earth in a pan by adding only enough water to bind them. Apply a ½ inch coat of the thick paste to the prepared grounds. Smooth out the surface of the coat with a trowel. Allow three days to dry.
- 5). Fill in the cracks on the floor with the second paste. Moisten the floor before sweeping it for the first time after it is dried.
- 6). Mix four parts clay with one part fine sand, boiled linseed oil and some finely chopped stray. Apply this third coat. Level the floor with a trowel and allow it to dry.
