- 1). Disconnect the power from the car's battery.
- 2). Remove the dashboard by carefully using a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the dash. This will expose the existing head-unit. Unscrew the head-unit using a wrench or screwdriver. Pull out the head-unit and disconnect all wires from it. Connect all the wires to the new head-unit; a wire harness may be necessary depending on the vehicle and head-unit. These can be purchased from the head-unit's manufacturer. Connect the RCA audio cables to the "Pre-Amp" or "Subwoofer Out" ports on the head-unit. Run the RCA audio cables to the trunk of the car. Insert the new head-unit into the body of the car and screw it in. Re-attach the dashboard.
- 3). Plug the RCA audio cables into the amplifier's "Audio In" ports. Mount the amplifier and subwoofers in the trunk of the vehicle.
- 4). Connect the subwoofers to the amplifier. Connect one end of speaker wire to the positive terminal on the subwoofer and connect the other end to the "Positive + Speaker Out" terminal on the amplifier. Connect one end of speaker wire to the negative terminal on the subwoofer and connect the other end to the "Negative - Speaker Out" terminal on the amplifier. Repeat this process for each subwoofer. Use a gauge of wire recommended by the speaker's manufacturer.
- 5). Connect a power cable to the amplifier's "Power + 12V" and run that cable to the car's battery. Connect another power cable to the amplifier's "Ground - negative" and run that cable to the car's battery. Use a speaker gauge recommended by the amplifier's manufacturer.
- 6). Reattach the power to the battery. Connect the power cables to the car's battery, making sure to connect ground with negative and positive with positive. Turn on the car and test the stereo system.
