When we were building our new house 2 years ago I ran across a picture of a master bedroom with a barrel ceiling in it and thought how beautiful it was. I really believe in doing things on a budget. Well let me explain when I say budget. What I mean is I believe in searching for ways to have the things you want but trying to have them without spending a fortune. I found out real quick that there is no way to have a barrel ceiling cheaply. Knowing how much I wanted it my husband built it anyhow. Let me say, he is no home builder but he done a beautiful job on this ceiling.He added in a shelf at the ends in a domed shape to follow the ceiling and some lighting in them They have a very calming effect. He added some trey molding down the sides and lighting in them. Simply Beautiful.What we did find out is they rope lighting has then softest effect.I told him that all the house we really needed was our master suite and our study. They are where I spent most of my leisure time. After seeing just how beautiful my bedroom is I would advice anyone to let something else go and have a Barrel Ceiling. It will be worth it. Come and see the beauty and also check out the other unique ceiling designs that we have in our home. There are no incorrect or correct ways to decorate your home as long as you are happy with it. Some of my ceiling do not go by a certain name such as trey ceiling or slant ceiling because we made the style up ourselves. Most of the time I refer to by rooms by the color such as the pink room.I have one bedroom that is a deep tropical pink the ceiling in it has 3 tiers that are a long octagon shape and are painted pink with white molding. I enjoy different and knowing that it is my design. You can design your own ceiling or have one designed and then do it yourself.I think if you put something of your own design in only one room you will enjoy it forever.I really feel like that one of the biggest mistake that people make when building their home is to always build with the resale in mind and leaving out things that really make their home personal to them. Think of how much more you could enjoy home if it was like you wanted it to be for you.I'm just saying that I'd rather be in my home with my ideas around me because no matter how long I'm gonna be in a certain house I fully try to live life one day at a time.
