Woodstock. Live Aid. Generation-defining festivals that united people through their love of music. It's time for the house music world to unite and celebrate where our music was born. MOVE! - the 2006 Chicago International House Music Festival will be held July 22 and 23rd at the new lakefront outdoor venues Charter One Pavillion at Northerly Island.

With support from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Bureau of Tourism, Move will feature house music's best DJs, including three Grammy Award Winners (David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, and Maurice Joshua), New York's forefather Danny Tenaglia, South African DJ Glen Lewis, as well as Chicago favorites (Steve "Silk" Hurley, Ralphi Rosario, Derrick Carter, Terry Hunter, Lady D, DJeremy, and Andre Hatchett).

House music is known for amazing singers and MOVE will feature some of the finest - Barbara Tucker, Jocelyn Brown, Dajae, and Jamie Principle. Hosting and MCing duties will be shared by Lady Bunny, LeeAnn Trotter, and Phillip Bloch.

In addition to music, YouthAIDS, a HIV/AIDS education and prevention initiative, is affiliated as an official charity. Empowerment Tags will be sold with 100% of the net proceeds benefiting YouthAIDS. "We believe in creating inclusiveness with a cause. In everything we do, we would like to encourage people to give back to the community at large. YouthAIDS represents every community and every demographic just as house music represents the same," says Festival Director Randy Crumpton.

Looking to the future of dance music, Move has also partnered with BeatPort, the top dance music download site which recently sold its one millionth download. Beatport is giving ten free downloads for tickets purchased via Ticketmaster. "We wanted to show our support and dedication to House music in Chicago, the legends who created it, and the city where it all started," according to Beatport's Kevin Green.
