- 1). Use a long-handled broom to carefully push large snow deposits off the satellite dish. Use a light touch and try not to bump the dish much; you may knock it out of position and cause further interruption to your signal.
- 2). Fill a powerful child's water gun with hot water.
- 3). Squirt water from the gun on the remaining snow on the satellite dish.
- 4). Purchase and install a device to keep your satellite dish safe from future snow buildups. At the lower end of the price range you can purchase a cover that will enclose the dish and keep snow away from the important components without making the signal degrade. If you're willing to spend a bit more money, you can purchase an electric heater that attaches to the dish and melts snow off as it falls on the unit. Either way, installation of a device of this type prevents any worries that you will have to get on a ladder or on the roof to deal with a snow problem.
