Make sure that you put your bike in gear so that it does not roll backwards or forwards. If your motorcycle has a parking break, make sure that you apply it.

Make sure that the bike is off, in gear, and your hand is gripping the hand brake firmly. When you are ready, give your passenger the go ahead to climb down from the motorcycle. Once he or she is free and clear of the motorcycle, go ahead and lean it onto the kickstand.
