- 1). Save or export the vector file from the originating application as one of the types Illustrator can use, such as an SVG file. Load this file onto the computer that has the Illustrator application.
- 2). Start Illustrator. Select "File" from the menu at the top and choose "Open." In the dialog that opens, browse to and open the file you saved.
- 3). Click "File" from the menu and choose "Save As." In the dialog, name the file and save it as an SVG file.
